Commitment to Safety

South Central PPD places a high priority on public and employee safety.

Workplace Safety Program

The Management of South Central PPD takes workplace safety seriously and stresses that safety is an integral part of life. To make the work place safe for the employees of South Central PPD, the District has instituted a Corporate Safety Program and Injury Prevention Plan as a daily operational procedure.

This plan is designed to improve the quality of life for employees and their families by reducing injuries. In addition, the District should benefit from higher employee productivity as well as lower accident and insurance costs.

Each and every employee is responsible for the safety of themselves and those around them. Every action taken throughout the course of every day carries with it an inherent “risk” and every employee, either consciously or subconsciously, makes thousands of decisions every day that affect their well-being and the well-being of those around them.

Because the management of South Central Public Power District cares, they work to provide a safe working environment. At the same time, it must be recognized that it is the employees themselves who ultimately have the most control over their own safety and the safety of those around them.

The Nebraska Rural Electric Association (NREA) Safety Manual is the document that defines the recommended safe working practices for employees of South Central PPD.
